Trans Studies Reading Group

September 23, 2022 - 2:00pm to 3:30pm

All are invited to attend the first session of a medieval trans studies reading group, on Friday, September 23, from 2-3:30 PM in the Polish Nationality Room (CL 126). In this first meeting, we will be discussing three chapters from Trans Historical : Gender Plurality before the Modern, edited by Greta LaFleur, Masha Raskolnikov, and Anna Klosowska (Cornell University Press, 2021):

1 - Leah DeVun: "Mapping the Borders of Sex"

4 - M.W. Bychowski: "The Transgender Turn: Eleanor Rykener Speaks Back"

12 - Roland Betancourt: "Where Are All The Trans Women in Byzantium?"

Some free copies of Trans Historical will be available for participants who attend the event; you can pick one up from the FRIT main desk (CL 1328) while supplies last. There is also an eBook available through PittCat, from which you can download chapter PDFs. Email Blake Gutt (bag112@pitt.edu) for PDFs if you encounter any difficulties. Looking forward to seeing everyone then!
