French and Italian in Western Pennsylvania
The Department of French and Italian is a resource for educational and cultural groups in the Pittsburgh community and beyond, whose initiatives both within the University of Pittsburgh and in cooperation with community organizations have far-reaching benefits.
Community Involvement
The French program shares its curricular expertise with participating secondary schools through programs such as College in High School, and has forged an important cultural partnership with the Pittsburgh chapter of the Alliance Française.
The Italian program participates in regular exchanges with cultural and community organizations such as the Pittsburgh chapter of the Dante Alighieri Society, the NIAF, and the John Heinz Pittsburgh Regional History Center, itself an important regional resource for Italian American History. Since 2013, we have partnered with the Italian Film Festival USA to present the Pittsburgh edition of their film festival series.
Continued involvement and enrichment in the community is achieved through donations from alumni, friends, and supporters.
We invite you to join us in making a powerful commitment to make a difference in the University, Pittsburgh, and the world.
