Gaia Prunotto

Gaia Prunotto (she/her) was born in Cuneo, Italy, and obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Language Studies in Turin, where she focused on interpreting and translating to and from English, Italian, French and Russian. She pursued her academic career with a Master’s Degree in Linguistics with a certificate in TESOL at West Virginia University, defending a thesis on gender neutrality in Italian to explore the language innovations utilized by the Italian trans and non-binary community of speakers and the polarization in the public debate around these topics.

 

Her research interests focus on Italian linguistics, language and gender, language reform, and social justice in linguistics. She is also interested in the cultural influence of music and literature on language and society, with a focus on gender and social justice.
