Jenny McCord is our on-site Pitt Faculty for the Pitt in Florence study abroad programs at the CAPA Global Education Florence Center. She teaches Italian 0101 Here and Now, Italian 0100 Italian for the Professions, Italian 0110 Firenze popolare, and Italian 1084 Intercultural Piazza.
Jenny earned a Master of Arts in Italian literature and a Master of Teaching in foreign language education at the University of Virginia. She has been teaching Italian classes for the University of Pittsburgh since 2006 and has worked for study abroad programs in Bologna, Florence and Rome. In 2012, she completed an Italian Master in intercultural studies and social mediation at the University of Padova, writing a thesis on intercultural couples and the family reunification rights denied to international gay couples.
In addition to her teaching and study abroad support for Pitt in Florence students, Jenny is involved with Anelli Mancanti, a local association that provides migrants with language classes, legal and medical consultation, social and cultural activities, as well as general information to facilitate a better integration into Italian communities. Her course Italian 1084 Intercultural Piazza draws from these years of collaboration and promotes Pitt student engagement through a more meaningful intercultural experience abroad.
