Richard Adle is a PhD student in Film and Media Studies with a concentration in French. He received a BA in Film Studies as well as a BAJ in Mass Media Arts with a minor in French from the University of Georgia in 2017. In 2018, he moved to Mayenne, France, initially to serve as an English teaching assistant at a vocational high school through TAPIF. The following year, he moved to Rennes where he completed a Professional Master’s in Digital and Interactive Media from the Université Rennes 2 in 2021. After a year working as a video editor in Paris, he returned to the US and completed an MA in French Language and Literature from the University of Maryland, College Park in the Spring of 2024.
His main research interest is French and Francophone documentary cinema as it pertains to the study of film form. In the context of his research, he is also interested in videographic criticism and the use of archival materials.
