A French and Biology Major, Carolyn Tett is this year's Golden Lotus Award winner. On the Oakland campus as well as abroad in Paris, Carolyn has done truly commendable work in language science and cultural studies classes as a student, emerging scholar and undergraduate teaching assistant. Professor Kaliane Ung notes, for example, her work as a TA extraordinaire for "Reading French: Literature, Media, Culture" in the fall of 2021. Professor Ung lauds Carolyn's outstanding 45-minute collective "improv" performance of "The Trial of Arsène Lupin." Her scholarly and creative endeavors include a paper presented at the 20th & 21st Century French and Francophone Studies International Colloquium as well as a performance in the role of Dame Pluche in On ne badine pas avec l'amour by Alfred de Musset in 2022. Carolyn's academic and professional excellence is admired by all, and her thoughtful guidance and mentoring of others, combined with a fine sense of humor have inspired faculty and fellow students alike.
